Al Huharizimi, an Arabian mathematician who lived in the 8th and 9th centuries, was the one who started the use of the Indian decimal method and of zero (0) in Arabian math. He published a book about Algebraic equations, whose name was the word Al Gabar (which means swapping). Algebra was named after this word. The word Algorithm is named after Al Huharizimi.
